LEGO 21329 Ideas Fender Stratocaster

LEGO 21329 Fender Guitar

Nearly all sets released under the LEGO Ideas banner come from fan/designers who upload their creations and receive 10,000 votes. In recent years, “contests” have provided a unique way to collect fan-generated content. After a few smaller projects were turned into official LEGO sets, the set this review focuses on is the first to be released after being entered into a LEGO Ideas Contest.

Music to the ears

In 2020, LEGO Ideas organized the 'Music to the ears' competition. This required fans to create a music-themed model. Fans could vote for their favorites, as well as the possibility of one of the finalists becoming a future LEGO set. One of those entries was Tomáš's legendary Stratocaster project. His entry may not have won the top prizes of the competition, but this set was still chosen to become the next LEGO Ideas set. So we'd like to introduce you to the newly announced LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster set .

Make your own brick-built 1970s Fender Stratocaster guitar and 65s Princeton Reverb amplifier with this LEGO Ideas set (21329).

Remember the legendary musicians who played a Stratocaster as you recreate the iconic curves and add authentic details like the adjustable whammy bar, pickup switch and tuning pegs. The buildable amp has removable panels so you can easily see the motherboard, reverb tank, speaker and other interior details, plus rubber cables to connect it to the guitar and footswitch.

Striking centerpiece

This set includes bricks to build the guitar in red or black, picks in 4 colors and an elegant, folding stand for the guitar model to create a beautiful showpiece. There's also a Fender logo sticker made from LEGO bricks that you can attach to your real guitar or amp.

Fender first created the Stratocaster electric guitar in 1954 and although the design has been modified over the years, the appearance has remained largely the same. The legendary instrument is a favorite of iconic musicians such as Hank Marvin, George Harrison, John Lennon and Eric Clapton to name a few.

This LEGO Ideas version draws on the history of the instrument, offering the option to build it in one of two color variants, as well as a stand and amplifier.

The stand is the first part of the set you build and the result is a simple looking structure for the guitar to rest on. It can also be folded just like a real stand. Once the guitar is added, it sits perfectly and securely against the stand, making it a functional part of the overall set and a great way to display it.

We prefer the red version to be built first, because it looks a bit flashier. You start by constructing the neck of the instrument, where you will find the strings and tuning tools. There are 5 strings included in the set.

When you place them, you will notice that each has a colored stud. Once placed correctly, these are then removed. This visual marker is a simple but super useful way to ensure the strings are placed in the correct formation. Once they are in place, you will need to turn them counterclockwise to tighten them. It almost feels like tuning the guitar, just don't expect the strings to give you a note.

Once the Fender neck is complete, you can then add the "body" of the guitar. Despite the choice in color of the guitar, the neck of the guitar is the same. Just don't expect color swapping to be easy. You will definitely have to remove a few extra pieces to get the guitar to change color.

One of my favorite parts of the Fender construction is the unique strap. In real instruments, the strap is an important tool for playing. The version here has been given a LEGO twist , with brick stud patterns interwoven with the Fender logo. Other interesting aspects of the set are gray colored strings and the included booklet with more information!

This set is a nice addition to the LEGO 21323 Ideas Piano!
